What does it mean to truly find your soul purpose? You’ll hear today how it’s so much more than following a dream or pursuing a passion. We are discussing intuition, soul contracts, and Akashic records. You’re guaranteed to be intrigued by this discussion!
Jennifer Longmore is an internationally-acclaimed soul purpose expert, three-time bestselling author, and the founder of Soul Journeys. For over 15 years, Jennifer has been helping people discover their soul’s purpose through over 30,000 soul purpose sessions. In this episode, Jennifer shares how she first discovered her spiritual gifts through her family, why problems are not meaningless roadblocks but are there to help us hone our soul’s purpose, and how understanding your own Akashic record, or soul’s history, can help unlock abundance and joy today.
A background like no other
Jennifer grew up in Canada and still calls it home. Her family was always very spiritually awake, to the point that her grandparents lived near a graveyard and had frequent “visitors” in their house. Jennifer grew up thinking this was just the normal way that all families lived! Her grandfather used his powers as a psychic medium to help the police solve crimes and he got young Jennifer started early reading heavy books on spiritual consciousness, such as the Seth Speaks series by Jane Roberts. He did this because he knew she “spoke the same language.” Ironically, their family life was very conventional in every other ways; their dinnertime conversations were just a little more bizarre than most. Jennifer ended up going to college to become a forensic investigator.
Finding the way to spiritual healing
As a teen, Jennifer Longmore finally stopped resisting the intuitive work she had absorbed all her life. She remembers “freaking people out” when she told them things that no one knew. For this reason, she started “dulling her light” and talking in circles to keep from saying things that might offend people and make them uneasy. She says that we talk in questions and “dumb things down” because we’ve been trained to show up in the world in a certain way. For women, there is the extra component of needing to be liked and well-received. Men don’t have the same filters built into the way they communicate. Jennifer became angry about her gift because it didn’t come with an owner’s manual. She leaned into it, but a car accident at age 21 introduced her to Reiki, which gave her the energetic language she needed to wrap her intuition in a bow.
A better way
As a young adult working in forensics, Jennifer always lived with just barely enough finances to make it. It was exhausting trying to work enough to buy groceries and keep a roof over her head. She thought there had to be a better way, and then she was introduced to people who used their gifts to make a living, which she never knew was a possibility before. She found that she could use her gifts to do something she loved doing – and get paid for it.
Akashic records
Akashic records are like road maps with things to discover, experience, work through, and contribute, as they make up the whole history – past, present, and future – of ourselves. Some people are wise in the use of this jargon, but people can’t take in the information because it’s over their heads. Still, others really don’t know what they are talking about. Jennifer likes to use the concept of “spiritual sovereignty” when she describes learning to live your purpose while only seeing a short distance ahead of us and only being given enough information to handle in this very moment.
The penthouse view
Jennifer Longmore explains the difference between the 100-foot view, which allows us to improve our lives, health, and relationships. The key is to see life experiences from the penthouse view, which allows us to take more risks without fear and proceed with ease. Much of what we pursue and what we expect comes from childhood. Jennifer shares a success story of a long-term client who used the Akashic record to clear out untrue illusions of herself and feel safe and supported in living out her truth and purpose.
Pain points and purpose
Adversities help reveal our purpose. Some believe that suffering is required in order for growth to happen. We are taught that we have to work hard and deserve what we get. People often bond over misery and suffering (just go hang out in a coffee shop and listen to the conversations!) We feel that people respect us more when we do things the hard way. Jennifer explains how we don’t need to ask why questions, but how or what questions are the ones geared toward solutions. We can rationalize evil, tragedy, and suffering because pain points give us purpose. With time, we can know intuitively that there is a bigger plan, even though the pain still sucks at the time.
Soul Contracts
Jennifer explains how we have made these in other lifetimes. We have contracted with certain people as primary caregivers, like parents, and they play certain roles for us so we can grow and cultivate our gifts. Jennifer has had to make peace in this lifetime with her mom and dad and their roles. She shares how she learned what her needs were and how she should show up for them and them for her.
Relationships with money
We have relationships with everything around us–and money is just one of those things. Money has a neutral energy, but we unknowingly project things onto it. The first step is to recognize the stories we project onto it and experience the same outcomes from the past. Everyone has a money story, but is yours healthy and are you committed to making it reflective of what you want it to say? The awareness can create healing and the brain can create new pathways. Jennifer wraps up by sharing some of her biggest blessings and learnings.
